About Me:
Andrea Meyer
I discovered yoga at the age of 15 when a friend invited me to a Sivananda yoga class. I was instantly captivated - not by the challenging poses, but by everything surrounding the practice. The scent of incense, the quiet atmosphere, the meditation, the tea shared afterward, and the sense of genuine community all left a lasting impression.
That feeling stayed with me. Through different chapters of my life, I always found my way back to my mat. Yoga became more than movement - it became a place to reconnect, reset, and return to myself. Creating that same experience for others is at the heart of every class I teach.
My Journey
Before becoming a full-time yoga teacher, I spent more than 20 years working in corporate marketing. While I enjoyed the creativity and collaboration that came with my career, I also found the demands of corporate life made it challenging to maintain a sense of balance and well-being. That experience drew me more deeply into yoga and ultimately inspired me to help others create greater balance, presence, and well-being in their own lives.
I completed my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training in 2020 and have continued to deepen my studies through mentorships, a Prenatal Yoga certification, and a 300-hour Advanced Teacher Training completed in 2025. Today, I am a Yoga Alliance RYT-500 and have spent the past six years teaching group classes, private and semi-private sessions, workshops, and assisting multiple 200-hour teacher trainings.
My teaching is deeply influenced by the precision and alignment of B.K.S. Iyengar's approach through my studies with Javier Wilensky, while also honoring the Sivananda tradition where my own yoga journey began. I enjoy blending mindful alignment, strength, breath, and stillness to create practices that are both supportive and empowering.
Why Sattva Practice?
Beyond certifications and experience, I am simply another student of yoga.
Like everyone else, I am continually learning how to navigate life's challenges with greater awareness, compassion, and balance. In yogic philosophy, Sattva represents harmony, clarity, and inner peace. It isn't a destination - it's something we return to, again and again.
That is why I chose the name Sattva Practice.
This space is an invitation to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and cultivate a little more balance in everyday life. Whether you join me for a private session or a group class, my hope is that you leave feeling stronger, more grounded, and a little more at peace than when you arrived.
